Shea acclaimed as ALCDSB chairperson

A new chairperson, vice-chair and chairperson of the Finance and Operations Committee have been acclaimed at the ALCDSB's Inaugural Meeting of the Board held on November 22, 2022.

The Board of Trustees has acclaimed Terry Shea, as chairperson of the board, Brian Evoy as Vice-Chair of the Board and Tom Dall as Chair of the Finance and Operations Committee.

Terry Shea said he is honoured to assume the role of chairperson of the Board for the ALCDSB again. Trustee Shea served the Board as chairperson previously in his 25 years of service as Board Trustee.

“The ALCDSB has established a high standard of performance and high expectations for our students, as Trustees it's our job to be a link to the communities we serve and a sounding Board for administration through committees and Board activities,” Shea said in his inaugural address to the board. “The work starts now, and I am grateful for your commitment to Catholic education.”

In addition, the ALCDSB have welcomed four new trustees:

Joanne Belanger, Trustee for Quinte WestAnthea Murrell, Trustee for Belleville, Tyendinaga, DeserontoJacqueline Fernandes, Trustee for Prince Edward County, Greater Napanee, Loyalist Township, Stone Mills, Addington HighlandsShawn Murphy, Trustee for Kingston and Frontenac Islands

During the meeting, David DeSantis, Director of Education and Secretary of the Board, presented and released the Director's Annual Report 2022. The report can be viewed at alcdsb.on.ca

The board extends to Father Marek Chochrek for joining the Board of Trustees, Senior Admin team, and other guests who came together to celebrate Mass.

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board serves approximately 12,000 students, employs over 1,400 fulltime equivalent staff and covers a geographical area of more than 16,000 square kilometers. The ALCDSB builds faith-filled learning communities where each member is loved, inspired, and successful.
