100+ Women Who Care Quinte to host holiday event

BRIGID GOULEM

Women of Quinte are invited to join 100+ Women Who Care Quinte for their annual holiday fundraiser event.

The in-person event will be held at The Grand in Belleville from 7 to 8 p.m. on December 7, with members encouraged to bring a friend and their favourite holiday sweater.

According to a media release issued on Thursday, the aim of the event is to gather 100 people four times per year, with each person or group of four people donating $100 with the total amount to be donated to a local charity or non-profit organization.

“We meet four times a year and although every single meeting is special as we are making a difference in our area - there is something extra special about our December meeting,” said Tawnya Smith, 100+ Women Leadership member, in the media release. “This time of year, we are making an impact and sharing the true meaning of the holidays.”

Over the course of their events, 100+ Women Who Care Quinte events have raised $288,125 for 25 local organizations. The most recent beneficiary of the events was the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, which received $7,800 from the September meeting.

In addition to good company, the event will feature 50/50 tickets, door prizes, and a cash bar.

For those interested in nominating a charity for the December event, nominations can be made online by November 30.

Those interested in the event or group can become a member by registering online.
