Workplace Inclusion Charter inked by city

After Belleville city council approved a new Workplace Inclusion Charter at their last meeting, the city will be the first workplace to ink the charter.

The Charter aims to create and promote safe, inclusive workplaces for marginalized and equity deserving populations, and to strengthen Belleville's economy.

“Belleville is a growing community with deep cultural roots and newcomers arriving every day,” said Mayor Neil Ellis. “Our culture is enriched by diversity, and our economy is strengthened by it. To support the needs of our growing economy, Belleville needs to attract, deploy, and retain talent from communities around the world.”

Belleville's Workplace Inclusion Charter envisions Belleville to be a place where residents feel respected, valued, and supported to succeed and stay.

Employers are asked to celebrate diversity, encourage intercultural understanding, uphold worker rights and support colleague development.
