Wilkinson and Company win Leighton Electric Skins Bonspiel

The 32nd annual Leighton Electric Skins Bonspiel was held in Stirling March 17-19. Leighton Electric of Trenton, title sponsor of the event in this year's Skins along with the 60 plus other sponsors that helped to make the Skins in Stirling once again the premier men's bonspiel of the year.

Twenty teams from across Ontario and New York State flocked to Stirling in search of the big prize being offered at this year's Leighton Electric Skins Bonspiel. Because of huge generosity from the community and surrounding area, Stirling Curling Club was able to offer the largest cash purse in the area this season at $13,660. The lucky team that made it to the A Event final played for $250 per end or skin.

After the dust settled the standings were as follows;

(Andre Chapman - Ottawa) - $110; McKillop & Ass.(Chris Ripley - Quinte) $100; Thompson Plumbing (Norm Bretherton - Stirling) - $65; Foley Tree Service (Brandon Hackney Quinte) - $60.

A shootout was used to break ties. Each group would then be competing for $100 and the overall winner would get an additional $100. This activity was generously sponsored by Meta Employment Service and Belleville Dairy Queen. The results of this were: T.H. Logistics (Dennis Murray – Quinte ) - 115cm (Overall Winner); The Ranch (Frank Sinko - Marmora) - 338 cm; Sullivan Auctioneers (Ryan Rowe - Napanee Curling Club) - 269 cm; McKillop & Ass.(Chris Ripley - Quinte) - 190 cm; Farquhar Cabinets (Matt Dupuis - Cornwall) - 165 cm.

The Leighton Electric `A' Event semi-final had Wilkinson & Co. (Tuer) defeating Farquhar Cabinets (Dupuis) $300 to $200, and Sullivan Auctioneers (Rowe) beating Pro One Stop (Ray) $380 to $120. In the final Wilkinson & Co. defeated Sullivan Auctioneers $1,270 to $750. Wilkinson & Co. took home $1,815 for the weekend

In the Northstar Refrigeration `B' Event semi-finals The Ranch (Sinko) defeated Dafoe Roofing (Collyer) $250 to $170, and Hodge Electrical (Barnard) defeated Campbellford Chrysler (Laver) $350 to $70. In the final The Ranch defeated Hodge Electrical $1.620 to $0. The Ranch took home $2,205 for the weekend.

In the P.A. Surveying `C' Event semi-finals T.H. Logistics (Murray) defeated Shawn Lumley Exit Realty (Ripley) $220 to $120, and Darren Guerard Royal LePage (Brownson) defeated Don McCurdy GM (Newman) $340 to $0.00. In the final T.H. Logistics defeated Darren Guerard Royal LePage $720 to $700. T.H. Logistics took home $1,255 for the weekend.

In the Stirling Woodland `D' Event semi-finals Woodbeck Auto Parts (Brien) defeated Martino HVAC (Brown) $260 to $0.00, and Lymans Landscaping (Fitzgerald) defeated Trish Clarke Royal LePage (Brandt ) $180 to $80. In the final Woodbeck Auto Parts defeated Lymans Landscaping $620 to $600. Woodbeck Auto Parts took home $1,005 for the weekend.
