Arthur J. E. Taylor, 95, of Belleville Ontario, passed away on March 17, 2023. Art was born on Dec. 2, 1927 to Lucy Rhombough and Charles Taylor in Schumacher, ON.. He looks back fondly on a childhood of running free from adult supervision; fishing, swimming, and skating. He spent 3 memorably happy summers working for his Uncle Henry Tregonning near Rock Lake. Art moved to Hamilton where jobs were plentiful when he was 16 years old. There, Arthur Taylor and Dorothy Roney fell in love and married in 1947. Art and Dot lived for a short time on the original 160 acres owned by his parents near Rock Lake and then moved to Sault Ste Marie to start a family. They went on to have 2 children; Heather and Margaret (Larry Willis). Art was a federal employee at the Unemployment Insurance Commission for 40 years. He stayed because he had "worker satisfaction" and because he liked the people. The family moved to Belleville ON in 1968 where they were delighted to find an affordable Victorian house. Every summer Art and his family, including the pets went camping at various provincial parks. After Dot's death in 1981, Art and Joan Henry formed a special long term relationship where they enjoyed doing many things together such as; picnicking, hiking, volunteering, and gardening, And best of all, Art began vacationing at the Rock Lake family property for 30 some years, where he reconnected with his relatives. Arthur was predeceased by his siblings Kezia Taylor (Alfred), Clara (William), Ernest (Trudy) and Willard (Evelyn) and grandchildren; baby Melissa and John.
